Pharmacist Verification Experience

A full-stack redesign of a critical pharmacist review workflow focused on comparison, keyboard efficiency, and decision context.

Overview

Pharmacists performing pre-purchase verification had to scroll, click, and mentally align information spread across the page. Field ordering and visual highlights added cognitive load to a compliance decision that needed to remain both careful and efficient.

What I Did

I delivered a series of backend and frontend improvements, culminating in a redesigned review layout developed with direct feedback from pharmacy users.

  • Placed source and entered prescription data side by side for faster comparison.
  • Added keyboard actions for common decisions and a resizable review panel.
  • Carried forward applicable prior review information to avoid redundant work.
  • Added activity history and clearer context for automated and manual outcomes.
  • Removed controls and visual treatments that did not contribute to the decision.

Engineering Decisions

In a regulated workflow, speed cannot come from hiding decision context. The design concentrated relevant evidence, shortened navigation, and preserved an explicit review path.

Outcome

The redesign reduced unnecessary interaction and made the comparison task more direct. The available source material contains baseline timing and projected savings, but no verified post-launch result, so those projections are intentionally not presented as impact.
